"Theda"
A stylish Art Deco
silvered and cold painted spelter metal figure circa 1920s,
of an Egyptian dancer (Cleopatra?),
the young woman wearing a draped skirt split to the thigh,
and a heavily beaded top, mounted on an oval white marble and onyx base-
11in/28cm high
very light wear to finish

This is such a nice quality spelter figure,
that I have seen it in an old Sothebys catalogue
described as bronze and it is easy to see why they thought it was!
This spelter figure definitely conjures up Hollywoods silent movie era, and Theda Bara, the earliest vamp, ( her name is an anagram of Arab Death no less!)
