An Art Deco spelter and ivorine figure by Enrique Molins-Balleste,
France c1925,
the dancer posing, dressed in period tunic, the spelter cold-painted
silver and gold with enamelled details in brown and green,
mounted on a honey onyx and black marble base-
33cm high/30.5cm wide
marble etched Molins, sculpture marked France
Expected age wear to the cold-painted finish and blemishes to the
marble surface
This is a lovely quality figure and is very much in the style of the exotic
dancers favoured by other sculptors of the time such as Chiparus, Gori
and Descomps.
Enrique Molins-Balleste was born in Barcelona and worked out of
Paris. Famous for his theatrical and genre groups and figural lighting,
his sculptures can be found in spelter, bronze and bronze / ivory.
