A stunning art deco bronze figure of Salome by Lorenzl,
Austria circa 1920's,
the semi-naked woman dressed in an elaborate beaded loin cloth and top,
her sabre poised ready to strike, stood on an eastern carpet,
cold-painted in gold, silver and brown with enameled details
mounted on a shaped black marble plinth-
14inches/36cm high
marked Lorenzl in script on the carpet,
wear to the finish commensurate with age,
minor chips to the marble

Joseph Lorenzl, Austrian 1892-1950.
Probably now one of the best known of the Art Deco period
sculptors,
Lorenzl is famous for his depiction of the slim boyish figure,
so desired in the 1920's, sculpting a wide range of figures
in dancing or coquettish poses.

He also designed for the famous firms of Goldscheider,
Hutschenreuther and Keramos.
