art deco lorenzl bronze

An very large and stunning Art Deco
Austrian bronze figure by Lorenzl,
circa 1930,
depicting a dancing female nude,
with a pale gold cold-painted finish,
mounted on a substantial onyx plinth-
55cm / 22in high
signed Lorenzl in the bronze socle.

This stunning bronze has wonderful styling and one of largest bronze sculptures that Lorenzl designed.
The cold-painting is in good condition with very slight wear to the metallic finish and some chipping to the onyx base.

Joseph Lorenzl, Austrian 1892-1950.
Probably now one of the best known of the Art Deco period
sculptors, Lorenzl is famous for his depiction of the slim boyish shape,
so desired in the 1920's, sculpting a wide range of bronze, spelter and ceramic figures in dancing or coquettish poses. He designed for the famous firms of Goldscheider, Hutschenreuther and Keramos
