An rare and stunning Art Deco
Austrian bronze figure by Lorenzl,
circa 1920's,
depicting a laughing female jester,
with a silvered, gold and copper cold-painted finish,
mounted on a marble plinth-
32.5cm / 12.5 in high
signed Lorenzl in the bronze socle.
This stunning bronze has wonderful styling which is very similar
to Lorenzl's work for Goldscheider with there being a possibility
this was also produced in a ceramic version.
The cold-painted bronze is in great condition with very slight
wear to the metallic finish and minor chipping to the marble.
Joseph Lorenzl, Austrian 1892-1950.
Probably now one of the best known of the Art Deco period
sculptors, Lorenzl is famous for his depiction of the slim boyish shape,
so desired in the 1920's, sculpting a wide range of bronze, spelter and
ceramic figures in dancing or coquettish poses. He designed for the
famous firms of Goldscheider, Hutschenreuther and Keramos
