ELIZABETH FRINK (1930-1993) AND THE RITVA MAN
JUMPER ONCE THE PROPERTY OF BRIT ECKLAND

Acrylic, applied with an embroidered golden eagle against a black,
brown and blue panel, number forty six from the edition of two hundred,
executed by The Ritva Man after a design by Liz Frink, with various
maker's and designer's labels (nape), retains label from the Brit Eckland
sale at Christies in 1996.
Originally established as a crochet and knitwear business in 1966, Mike
and Ritva Ross created 'The Ritva Man' label in 1969 with the aim of
collaborating with artists, such as David Hockney, Allen Jones, Patrick
Hughes, and in the case of this example, Liz Frink , to produce limited
edition knitwear.
Although intended to be issued in an edition of 200, it is possible that
not more than a fifty of each designwere produced and originally sold for
£45 each in 1973.
