An Art Deco spelter figure lamp by Carlier, "Bubble Dancer"
France c1930, the gold painted spelter figure dancing with a
textured glass globe, mounted on a splendid multi-coloured
marble base.
The inspiration for this sculpture was the photograph from the
Walery studio in Paris of Georgia Graves, a famous Folies Bergere
dancer. This also inspired the sculptor Armand Godard to create
his version in bronze or bronze / ivory which can be seen in Brain
Catley's "Art Deco and other Figures".
