A stunning rare Art Deco
Austrian metal/spelter figure by Lorenzl,
circa 1930.
depicting a stylish young lady, in a split dress,
the spelter cold-painted in shades of silver, gold and dark purple with enamelled flower details, mounted on a round pale honey onyx plinth-
9.50 in/24cm high
Signed Lorenzl and ANR Austria

This beautiful spelter figure has wonderful styling
and typical Lorenzl features.
This is an exceptionally good quality sculpture by Lorenzl,
easily mistaken for a bronze, with the floral details on her skirt typical of work done in Vienna (sometimes signed by the artist Crejo).
She is in great condition with only very slight ageing to the cold-painted spelter finish.

Joseph Lorenzl, Austrian 1892-1950.
Probably now one of the best known of the Art Deco period
sculptors,
Lorenzl is famous for his depiction of the slim boyish shape,
so desired in the 1920's, sculpting a wide range of figures
in dancing or coquettish poses, working in spelter, bronze and ceramic.
He also designed for the famous firms of Goldscheider,
Hutschenreuther and Keramos.
